LONG ISLAND NY
NEW TO SITE, HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP. MY QUADRA FIRE 7100 WAS INSTALLED IN SEPT OF 2009. I LIVE ON LONG ISLAND USE IT FOR THE COLD WINTER MONTHS. YESTERDAY I HAD A FIRE GOING FOR ABOUT 2 HRS THAN I HEARD I TICKING SOUND FOR ABOUT 7 SECONDS THAN THE FAN SHUT DOWN. WENT OR TO THE SWITCH CLICK IT ON AND OFF AND NOTHING. VERY WORRIED ABOUT MY TV ABOVE MY MANTEL SO I GOT A FAN TO PUSH THE HEAT AWAY UNTILL FIRE WENT OUT. I CALLED THE PLACE I BOUGHT IT FROM BUT NO ANWSERS. OTHER THAN BLOWER PROBALY DIED. HAVE TO CHECK IT WHEN IT COOLS DOWN. ABOUT 3 HRS LATER FIRE WAS ALMOST DONE I WENT OVER TO THE SWITCH TO TRY IT AND THE FAN CAME BACK ON. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. I CALLED THE STORE BACK AGAIN WITH NO ANWSERS. IT'S BEEN RUNNING FOR ABOUT 14HRS NOW AND HAS NOT MADE ANY NOISES OR SHUT DOWN BY ITSELF AGAIN. ANYBODY HAD SOMTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN TO THEM OR ANY ANWSERS. THANKS JIM

Use the search button on 7100 , there where a few posts last week on the same issue. From what I remeber there might be a problem with the blowers on these 7100 units.

I LOOKED ON THIS SITE, I DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING ABOUT A TICKING SOUND, IT SHUTING DOWN, THEN COMING BACK ON AND NOT HAVING A PROBLEM? ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS FOR ME? I NEED SOME HELP? I LOVE THIS STOVE?

Hi Jim, welcome. Here is the thread I found using the search function and searching on 7100 blower:

PS: Please turn off the caps lock. It's hard to read. On the internet, caps locks are used for SHOUTING.

thanks i don't smell any burning plastic. it's running good now hope it stays on. this fireplace stove heats up my whole house. i just built a 3200 sqft home. sometimes i have to open my downstairs windows cause it gets to hot. this site is awesome to get anwsers. thx jim

How was this wired? Did the snapdisk bypass switch get installed as per page 38 of the installation manual? It looks like the blower should work all the time with that switched to the manual position. If it doesn't check the wiring and switch asap. There could be a loose or poor connection. You don't want to let this go too long at risk of overheating that problem spot. Also check the blower wiring connections to be sure they are well done and tight.

Did the electrician put in a snap switch bypass along with the motor speed control? This sounds like a snap disk failing, which is an inexpensive part. The bypass switch test would confirm this.
