Here is a different one for you. My kid constantly keeps their bedroom door closed so that room is always much colder than the rest of the house with the Pellet stove on. I was thinking of mounting a plug in exhaust fan up in the wall to get some circulation into that room.. Anyone tried this and found a nice quiet fan? I would prefer one that i could control the speed and then i would just leave it on the lowest speed all the time.. Kids..... not sure why they need to leave the door closed all the time when they are at the opposite end of the house so we cant even hear/see them...LOL

I just got an AC Infinity Fan for my house circulation duct

Not sure how well that will work as the air has to be able to flow/escape out of room some how guess it would depend on size of room and how tight your house is.

Maybe add another inch cut on the bottom of the door. Then maybe the kids will stuff the crack with a wet towel to get more privacy.

The doors at the bottom already have a good gap so air movement out will not be a issue.
Plus you will be running the fan/blower at a low speed.

Do nothing, let him/her freeze. Kind of a heartless comment…I raised two daughters and soon learnt the hard way that it’s not worth fighting the little battles. Save your energy for the big battles, want to dye your hair purple, go for it, want a nipple piercing, hold my beer while I roll up my sleeves.

What kind of permanent heating do the rooms have? Mine here were/are oil furnace hot water rads which is out of service. They installed 240V convect heaters that have a built in thermostat. For the little bit of makeup heat you need that would be an option? Maybe if it's too hot she will open the door and show herself and you can listen to all the latest music whatever that is...or maybe old Led Zepplin

Mine is heated by a furnace and unfortunately installing a electric heat is out of the question as adding another breaker to the box would make me non compliant for electrical code, as much as i would like to do that. My kid runs hot middle of winter she is no jacket..LOL.. She seems to like the old music thats what her play lists all are.

The previous owner of our house had a coal stove in the back room, and they tried to move air around the whole house with fans. They installed one of these: https://www.lowes.com/pd/SUNCOURT-8-in-Hardwired-Through-Wall-Fan/3199257

They also had black flexible duct work running through the basement, into one of these fans: https://www.amazon.com/AC-Infinity-...cphy=98818&hvtargid=pla-4584482474595219&th=1 and then up into a cold air return in the living room.

We're tearing all that junk out, because I put my pellet stove in the living room where it can heat the main part of the house. If you were closer, I would give you both fans and the black duct work.

Somehow i never looked at those links.. Looks like exactly what i want, i like the temp controller and all the speed settings do not need alot of speed to move the air.

When I was a kid, if it were below zero out, and I kept the bedroom door closed, I could scrape frost off the bedroom walls . No intervention was necessary, I chose to keep the door open. I get to college, and guys in the dorms thought it was funny to keep their windows open and see their breath at night. To each their own.

LOL... yep... I just don't like going in their and have to put my coat on because its cold in their.. Heck she did not like it when i put the plastic up over the windows that she still had open..

Heck up until 20 years ago i used to sleep with my window open a crack all winter, would wake up to snow on my bed.. Then i started paying attention to my heating bills.. Ouch

We had a similar problem at our old house. It was hot in the basement and cold in the bedroom. We had a drop ceiling so we put in a floor register with a duct fan that sucked air out of the bedroom and blew it into the basement where the stove was. This was one of the best things we ever did. It created a vacuum in the bedroom which brought the heat back there. And it blew cold air into the basement making that room way more comfortable too. Unfortunately we never found an ultra quit one, but they sell plugs with rheostats in them so changing the fan speed was easy.

I am doing the same thing with a floor duct I added to my bedroom above my basement stove. I have 4 inch duct and just upgraded the fan to a AC Infinity brushless DC - way better blower than I had. Creates a circulation.

Looking at the Infinity as well and can't see what the difference between the pro speed controller and the speed controller is, to me they look identical except for the price. I was going to go with a Pro smart controller but figure i don't really need that just set it and walk away.

I just got the basic one: It has a corded speed control remote. It was all I need, as my control location is in the same room and could mount is within the length of the cord. Before I was using a basic cheap vent fan with a 120V motor. I tried basic voltage reduction to lower the speed, but of course ac motors like to run at full voltage. It's going to be nice to have proper speed control.
