OK, this is a pipe dream....

But here was the flash I got today while taking a long walk....

I rent a nice bus - a real bus - like Air Conditioned and Rest Room equipped.

The bus rolls from Ct (near the Hartford airport in case anyone comes in that way) - and heads up the valley with 4 stops all in one day....

Maybe - VC Foundry, then Woodstock for a late Lunch, then Heat-Fab and then another surprise place near here....then back to Hartford.

Spouses and other family members would be welcome......

I wonder how many people would come. If I could get more than 20 I would be tempted to look into the idea.
Another option would be for bus to roll one way from Woodstock or VC......but then folks would have to get back!

I should be working full time at that point, so YOU KNOW that I'm in. (That means little Corrie is too!)

hahah, no.

Little Corrie is another title for my girlfriend. I think we've been over this before, but her name is also Corrie.

I thought it started with a "S" ;)

So if things go the way they usually do in these situations, someday it'll be Corie, Little Corie and Itty-Bitty Corie?

BTW, I can't imagine anything my wife would rather do less than take a bus trip with some of my "Internet friends."

Although we did have dinner with Carpniels, and she did take a shine to him. So maybe there's hope for the rest of yuz.

There are some REALLY nice Brewpubs in Vermont.........

For the love of Pete make sure its not a Fung Wah bus :)

If Craig's running the bus, it will be a class act, though maybe more like the Merry Pranksters? (It should have a wood stove.:))

Hey Craig did you slip and fall and jarr your noggin? I suggested this 2 years back and you poo pooed it to death. Something about your bad experience with the CB club.
I Even suggested the Vermont tour.

Remember the talk of live music supplied by yours turely Home brew tail gate party Eric demonstrating the correct way to file a chain

I would bring my electric splitter we could get don in ct to bring his ryobi and Another member to bring their 6 ton iron horse one so that all could demo them.

We would have to get harley to bring s his switzer type using the flywheel princiipal. I still have some American Rock Elk for Warren to take a crack at.

we could see the different mauls and the frisker ax try the wood gernade. ( that is before hospitalities are dispenced and no flip flops)

chain saw comparisons the husky vs stihl vs domar makitas

I think someone here recently indicated they had availability to a spot for a gathering.... could possibly do both at the same time.... some could go on the tour if they wanted and others could hang out and play with all the toys we bring.

The tough thing is figuring how many folks.....if we are gonna have 10, then my backyard is fine......I also am renting a house in Newport, which is relatively close to Elk and a lot of the forum members (but further from the Hudson Valley crowd).

Who knows? As I said, just a quick pipe dream. It might be best having more and smaller get togethers, like if I figure out where in my house I can put a stove and insulated chimney...then I can tell Corie and Hogwilz to bring a ladder and go to town.

AHEM?

I figured craig to be in a VW bus with a spare tire on the front! :coolsmirk: Quick

OK....

Now are we going to have to cordon off areas for the competition between the orange (red) versus the blue saws? I thought we were trying to get things less political??? :P

Red and orange are NOT the same!!!!!!!!

Stihl != Jonsturd

:)

I'm just joking everyone. Really. Stop sending me nasty PM's already.

Shindawa is the only real red one. :)

And what about white, no Echo fans here?

Good thread...
So Corie? If your GF is also named Corie does that mean if you go into business together the endeavor will be something along the lines of "C&C xyz etc."...??lol
Web, I like the Idea... Could make it "Weekend Getaway" package to keep the "less interested spouse" a little happier. Could possibly make it a "Whistlestop" event..something like this:
...Weekend getaway tour...possibly geared specific for how much time everyone has. For our friends in the Cape are, southeast MA and CT...maybe a weekend when "something good is showing at Mohegan/ Sun Foxwoods" Bus leaves (the casino) early/mid AM on Say a Saturday...make a couple stops to pick up folks on the way to Springfield (your tour idea)...next stop Gardner (might be able to get a group/event discount at the Colonial hotel)...Sunday AM at the hotel..breakfast, trade show....mid/late AM early aft get togehter party/possible tour of local wood fired powerplants? (just ideas...fine tuning required)...

People could "customize" how they want to attend...

There is a local "tour bus company" that does Casino runs on a regular basis...it's a "small family run business" but has been in business over 40 years...Another electrician and myself worked for the prop. (got to know him well) when they were building their new maintenance facility...sure he would take care of us :)

Any thoughts ladies and gentlemen? Let me know...

Web...If interested...in choosing a reputable outfit for a "Bus tour"...Ask for Mr. Pete Wilson...tell him an electrician he knows recomended him.

No "Fung Wah" horror stories...class "A" outfit:

Web: (not to get too far off discussion)lol
Or anyone else "out west"...looking for "weekend" ideas perhaps venturing "into the city"...they even have some events in Maine:

(broken link removed to http://www.wilsonbus.com/one_day_excursions.htm)

I once displayed Tarm at the Common Ground fair in Maine - if anyone has the luxury of traveling at that time of year (Sept), it is a very neat fair!

(broken link removed to http://www.mofga.org/TheFair/tabid/135/Default.aspx)

Hmm, tall ships going to Newport at end of June - have to check that out. Maybe Mike from NY will be there and take me for a ride in his yacht!

Fancy trip setup, Key...... but I don't think we are there yet in terms of possible attendance. When I float back to earth I think the idea would be to start small and/or have multiple events. Whereas, as Eric suggests, most spouses would not want to go along with a longer situation, some may be persuaded to go to a BBQ and perhaps a short tour (like woodstock, etc.) - or, Newport with no stove tour but A LOT for folks to do optionally by themselves or with others.
(mansions, beaches, boats, seafood, italian food, shopping, etc.)

Once we establish how much fun it will be, the rest of the world will then want to tag along!

Hey, while we are dreaming, we can set up a bus with tools and ladders and then cruise around and have Corie install stoves - and pick them up from dealers, distributor and manufacturers. Now THAT would make some Press! The thing would, of course, be totally set up for tailgating, so that the hearth.com party could continue all along the route.

Corie would probably get hired after 50 million people found out (in the media) about this.

Can anyone say "Electric Kool-Aid Stove Install Test"? We could even get a small brew pub to make "Creosote Brown" to fuel the ride.

Who needs a brewpub? I've got over 60 gallons of different flavors of mead fermenting in the basement - I used to do beer before the GF and I started to do the low carb thing... None of that light, watered down crap like Guinness either, but a nice dark brew... I can't sell anything because I am not about to jump through all the BATF hoops - (they do nasty BBQ's) but I can share all I want with my friends as long as I don't brew more than 200 gallons a year!

We don't have a stove factory tour, but we do have a nice swimming pool, will have a pile of wood to test toys on (should I save the elm that I just cut? its small but needs a bit of splitting) and BBQ stuff - We had been thinking of throwing some sort of Pot-Luck BBQ during the summer if folks expressed an interest -
