OK, now that I have your attention you have to listen to my story.

I had an older wood stove that i bought used about four years ago. It was a great stove, even had a blower. The one thing i didn't like was it didn't have a glass door. (i think i paid $400) for it 5 years ago.

SO ...I decided being that MANLY guy that i am, i need the Englander 30NC. Price at Home depot was $999. I have been saving for this baby, and decided to just go for it. Paid cash, even paid for delivery, with tax and all it was $1138. That night I came home and told the wife to look on craigslist to see what people are asking for woodstoves, so I could get an idea of what I could get for my old one. She was looking and found someone advertising a new woodburner. Clicked on the picture, IT WAS THE SAME WOODBURNER, BRAND NEW, THAT I HAD JUST PAID FOR. the best part was...the asking price...$700!!!!!!! (apparently the man bought it, hadn't installed it yet, had to have open heart surgery, and decided it was just too much to deal with, but it was past the 30 days to get his money back at home depot) ...I RAN to home depot, got them to refund my money (the delivery wasnt scheduled for a couple more days) then I went and bought the one on Craigslist. Still had the blue plastic on the gold trim!! Savings that day= $438.00

Forward to one week later, after advertising my woodburner for 22 hours at $400 price, someone bought it tonight for $400!!!

So, my new beautiful woodburner cost me $300!!!!!

I love the internet. (this forum included)

Nice. Have you installed/fired it up yet? Been using my 30NC for almost 2 weeks now, you'll love it.

That's a hell of a deal! I paid $800 for mine but had $400 in gift cards...Best money i ever spent! I'm sure you'll love it..They really crank out the heat.

We did use it twice now. The first time cause I just HAD to try it, and it really wasn't cold enough, got the house in the 80's in no time (good thing the wife wasn't home, she would have been B****ing!!! I actually had to turn our central air on for a while to cool the house down before she got home.

And the second time was last week one morning it was cold and it was great. I can see it is going to take me a little bit of time to get used to it. I added a foot onto to my chimney to give it a little more draft (probably really not totally necessary, but can't hurt) But, having the glass door makes the biggest difference. I constantly had to open the door in my other one to "check on the fire" which i did ALL the time. I think that added to a lot of dust and dirt in the house too.

My biggest disappointment this week, is the darn weatherman just said we are going to be having "Indian Summer" with temps in the high 70's this weekend. I know I will be feeling different in the dead of winter when i am hauling in wood for the umpteenth time, but I just can't wait to get this thing fired up and see how long it will burn.

I bought my 30 on Craigslist as well, for about half what HD was selling them for. It was new, still wrapped in plastic and on the shipping pallet.

Another win for Craigslist!
