I think there's a few VC folk on this site who wish they got one of them.

Wow, and I thought I made out respectably on the Vigilant. That is just right down the road from me. I might check it out for chits and giggles.

help me out i know nothing of antique stoves. i dont get it. is it worth more???

Its not even close to being a VC. Its could beeither a Jotul or Morso. Wich are awsome. Unless it was a scandia wich is a cheap knock off I think. My guess any how. :cheese:

haha oh thank you north of 60. i thought you were going to say it's extremely rare and worth $100,000 :bug: . i was about to hop in my car and drive to New jersey

Hmmmm. Why do I think that is not the real McCoy? Could it be the lack of Jotul on the door? Or the cheap casting?

The best part is he doesn’t even claim its Jotul but a Vermont Casting.

Ya, no Jotul on the door and no writing above it. Scandia cheapy.

Sadly, I am the proud owner of one of these. After months of browsing Craig's List hubby and I found it at a yard sale last summer. I knew from the tag on the back that it was a Scandia and had an inkling it wasn't worth much based on what I'd read here. The good news is we only paid $35.00 for it.

The better news is that with the assistance of another member here we found a VC Winter Warm insert so we never did anything with the Scandia.

The bad news is that the Scandia is still sitting in my yard, and it's pretty rusty at this point. I suppose I could try and sell it but I'm not sure I could do that in good conscience without some sort of disclaimer.

Probably figured the moose on the stove were Vermont moose . . . and therefore by the process of elimination it had to be a Vermont Casting stove. :) ;)

another beauty for the free firewood crowd...

"free 2 story tall cherry tree for fire wood
you cut it down, you take the wood

must sign liability waver "

I'd turn that sucker into some kind of exterior fireplace.
