I recently found that maple syrup makes an excellent assembly adhesive on a woodstove. I had to hold a washer in place during assembly and didn't want to use the usual grease or weatherstrip adhesive that would result in nasty fumes when fired. Then, thinking of loading the dishwasher I remembered that nothing is stickier than slightly dry maple syrup. Works great, you can lick your fingers for cleanup, and hardly smells when fired.
