Here are what appear to me to be three different types of wood. Any idea what they are? I was told the load was mostly Ash, but which is Ash?

#1 not sure maybe soft maple #2 basswood #3 not sure #4 appears to be ash #5 not sure and # 6 probably birch

raining here in PA. . . luckily got one big load of red oak at 7am this morning took it home and commenced splitting and stacking right before the rain

Ok, for clarification, tut these pics are of only three different pieces of wood. First and second are the same, third and fourth are the same, and the fifth and sixth are the same.

So, Basswod, Ash, and Birch then?

Thanks to all for the replies.

I thought the 3rd and 4th pictures were ash, glad for the confirmation. The others I had no idea.

So, the first two are maple? Sugar maple or silver maple?

And is beech any good? I didn't think we had beech here in southeast Wisconsin.

What about this one? I can get a big pile of this stuff for $100. Was cut to length last winter and left in a pile.

He said it was a maple tree. By the description, nearly 3 ft at the base then branching into several large branches, I'm thinking it was Silver Maple.

I split this piece cold and it measured 42% MC.
