Hi. Looking to get a small cordless ash vac for cleaning occasional ash spills when reloading. Dust pan is not doing the job sometimes. So tired of dragging huge vacuum from garage with long cord, Any recommendations?

I have a Dyson that I use for bug dust and debris, and ashes that fall off my coal rake sometimes.

PS: If I touch my wifes Dyson I will be sleeping in a barn that day.

Lol.
It'll suck ashes. I chose a Dyson because of the cyclonic nature of it; the ashes don't really go in the filter, and thus not thru the filter into the motor.
Ashes are bad for brushes (if present), bearings, and anything motor. They're quite abrasive.
So I'd use one where it's the least likely ashes get into the moving parts.

make sure they’re are not hot embers! Get the vacuum that uses whatever batteries your cordless tools use. Get a bag filter for it and use the original filter too.

Are the ashes still hot - i.e. the occasional hot coal mixed in (even very small coals)? If so, you really should be using a specialized ash vacuum.
Yeah, I'd suggest to never vacuum ashes from the stove. Just scoop them.
I only vac whatever falls off my coal rake when I put it down.
