lol no, i planted a privacy border of green giants about 35 ( an arborvitae hybrid ) but suppose to be deer resistance ( but i know if their hungry they are gonna chow down )
and well i think its known how many Deer i have running around so i know what im up against.and i went against the rules ( put up a fence dumazz )
last night my daughter seen a couple browsing around them, so now i got to deal with it
so im gonna wrap them up also read it is a good idea to protect them from winter with burlap so kill 2 birds with 1 stone
If that dont work i will invite butchers here on different occasions to pick up free food (kidding)
going to do multiple deterrents too sprays irish spring soap etc

I'm inundated with deer too, among other woods critters. PITA's! Dug up and gave away 18 hostas and some blue hydrangeas a couple years ago because of them. Tried everything but the human hair trick. Nothing worked. They just come in my yard and sit by my porch like fricken dogs. I don't get it.

LOVE precision shooting but not a hunter. Very VERY lucky deer.

ya i cant kill them either BUT i know my brother in laws will so far i have been reading irish spring soap chunks placed around and egg mixed with water sprayed on them works they dont like the rotten egg smell but as we know they need to eat to survive. my cousin owns a hair salon guess that wont hurt either

These are pretty far back, but I had no idea they were coming this close

Burlap should work or you could use chicken wire? Its pretty cheap at my local Hardware.

UGH that Barn lol wire was first thought i figured i would try the burlap for the wind/snow protection factor

If you use Irish spring you gotta make sure you use yer favorite jackknife and whittle it like in the old commercials

My most successful deterrent was wolf urine but it only lasted so long. The rain washes it away and the deer seemed to catch on quickly. Hands down the most disgusting smelling stuff I've ever come across. Waaaay worse than I ever thought it would be. Wish they sold the whole wolf.

We see the dang things here right up till it is legal for me to drop hammer then they are nowhere close until the end of black powder season at which time they are back on the lot and munching what they want.

I've got to get over my aversion to not following the game laws.

We have the same issues with them eating things in the flower garden, shrubs, and eventually they will get the Brussel sprouts still in the garden. They tend to leave the parsnips alone, good thing as I want to harvest them in the spring. I harvested one planter of parsnips yesterday, that should do us for the winter.

the wolf urine makes sense BUT how the hell is a deer suppose to know what wolf urine smells like if we dont have any wolves around here LOL
also wouldnt Wolf urine attract more wolves?

For what it's worth, I have moderate deer pressure in my back yard, and they've never touched my Green Giant Arbs. Maybe you'll be ok.....Anyway, I LOVE these trees. They're putting on multiple feet per year, despite the drought.

The pin oak and red maple saplings are deer candy apparently though.

I assume deer just know, as dumb as they appear to be. Might be no different than taking a leak on em yerself....which I also heard you know where. Not sure what their natural predators are but coyotes and bobcats come to mind. They prob just think this isn't a deer and I'm in danger.

As far as attracting more wolves?...never really thought about it, lol. I DO know one thing, if wolves were common around here, I wouldn't be sprinkling wolf pheromones in the yard!

Just go with the soap and burlap

The biggest are nearing 6 feet tall. The smallest are about 3-4. My neighbor has a few around 12-15 feet.

I'm assuming you're asking about the Arbs, btw.
