It looks like Apple to me. What can I expect in regards to splitting, drying, and burning?

I just cut up a coworker's apple tree. That is what it looked like except the center/dark part was rotten. The coworker's tree collapsed from 100s of apples. Oh well, I got a few apples, but the wood is mostly no good. Apple wood is dense (when not rotten). It should take at least a couple of years to dry. It will make very good firewood. Fruit wood and nut wood are primo firewood's.
