So, I've complete my hearth pad with slate tile and was planning to seal it using the same acrylic sealer I used on the slate in my bathroom, but now I'm wondering if there are potential safety concerns or drawbacks. Anyone have experience with this or any other thoughts/insights?

Can you post a link to the sealer?

I just used normal tile sealer on my slate - not worried about that. Some people don't seal - search the forum - I've posted about this before. Good luck.

Pretty sure this is a non-issue . . . I used a sealant on my slate hearth and have had zero issues after having burned all last winter.

good for me to know also. i need to seal my slate hearth tile also.
