Are BTU ratings comparable between Harman and St. Croix

I'm planning to replace my st. croix prescott rated 40,000 BTUs with a Harman accentra rated at 40,000 BTU's. The st croix met the heating load in my 1,200 sqft house even on cold days with no supplementing.
Is the accentra going to be able to do the same thing or are BTUs ratings between the two companies not comparable?

Hi cold- Interesting screen name! Absolutely a btu is a btu and 40K sounds ideal for your sq footage. The Accentra should have no problems replacing the Prescott. Good luck with your new stove.

Why not go with a Harman p61a for that extra punch when the temp goes way down?

Thanks for the input guys, very much appreciated. I was thinking about one of their larger stoves but read posts where some complained about being "heated" out of the room the stove is in. The Harman looks a lot easier to clean than the St Croix. I don't have to replace the gasket after pulling and clean the fins on the combustion blower. The Accentra blower fins are easily exposed by removing a cover.

Hi cold= x2 on St Croix not being the easiest stove to clean. Don't think you will get overheated with any pellet stove, turn it down and should be no problem. Good luck

Remember, the Harman can be set to maintain a certain temp, so there's no reason to get overheated.

better to have more stove than you need than to have to max out a smaller unit just to keep up. (or not keep up)

i am extremely glad we went with the ps50 ad not the ps35.
i go between the high setting and the medium when it's in the minus teens or minus 20's .

but i haven't yet had to run on high 24/7.
i have "just" enough headroom.

i'm looking forward to finding out if the new white spruce pellets i got are going to let me avoid the high setting more often this year at the coldest points.
i'm also hoping to run on low for a lot longer into the season.

All of the Harman stoves, except the P68 cycle down to the same low heat value, approx 8k btu per hour and all have the room temp function to keep the room within 1 degree of set point. Problem is, most folks run their Harman on stove temp cause some nitwit dealer told them that using the room temp function would "burn out igniters" every year....or worse, the dealer never actually instructed them them how to use the controls.
