Are there any new "hybrid" inserts that stick out instead of flush?

I'm not sure how new these are, but it sounds like a great idea to have both secondaries and a cat. My dream would be a LARGE hybrid "outsert" with OAK capability. Seems most inserts have about a damn cubic foot of space anymore. A guy struggles to get one decent size piece of wood with a small amount of existing coals. pfft. I want HEAT for when it's in the teens or lower outside. I can use my electric heat for the shoulder season. Is there any MAN insert stoves left out there? That's great that some can last 30 or more hours smoldering wood at a low temp output. I'm not looking for supplementary heat though. This is for primary heat.

The guys that are getting 30 hours of heat from their Blaze Kings are also capable of getting 8-12 hours or more at a higher output. That would be a good option for you.

Have you ever considered putting in a rear venting freestanding unit?

Do you have masonry chimney? If so you could just stick large wood stove out on hearth and have it all. Some even extend out the hearth to allow for bigger stove. I myself burn a Woodstock on hearth connected to ss liner that really puts out lot of heat and block off plate at damper frame that I removed for space for liner

I would like that option of a rear vented stove, but I was told by someone here that my exterior wall masonry fireplace opening is too short. It's somewhere between 22 and 24 inches tall. I'd also have to extend the hearth out quit a bit. The blaze kings and kuma's I believe are all top exhaust though.
Is there any awesome websites someone knows of that isn't the manufacturer's site, but more like a warehouse that you can check off on the side and narrow down your search like "top flue", size, etc? Like a comparison with many multiple stoves? I've noticed the hardest thing to find on a new stove is the price, lol.

Old lopi fL model. I thought it was small compared to my older blaze king insert downstairs, but even this thing seems like today's large size insert. It's got to be at least 3 cubic foot firebox, but can't find specs to be sure.

The one downstairs is 26, so I'm assuming this one is the same. It's sealed into place, so I can't move it until it's time to clean the chimney next year. They're more of a rectangle shape. The shroud barely fits from side to side, like 37 or 38 inches wide.

Here is a pic of my stove that is lower than the 28 inch masonry opening. I have a older Vermont Castings Encore that was biggest they made. The flue connector can be reversed for out back or top.

Looks nice. I don't think it would work for mine though, since your's looks to be about an inch or two from the 28 inch top masonry opening. So, 25 or 26 inches minimum opening I'm guessing, and I'm maxed out at 26. Would be a tight squeeze just for the pipe. Maybe I could ditch the legs?

Why the requirement for a hybrid? There are a lot of good inserts out there. What are your priorities for this installation?

Doesn't necessarily have to be a hybrid. I just figured they'd be the most green. Truthfully, I'm still learning about stoves and all the options and pros vs cons, and really not exactly
sure at this point which one I'd like. Blaze king would be cool, but they're top exhaust only. The Inserts are not OAK, so looking for either a stove that has a rear exhaust with OAK that I can install like excavator has, or I find another Large insert like the sequoia, with oak, but not catalytic. I guess I could drop down with kuma to the next smaller model that has what I want, but again, it's smaller, with a smaller box. I'm picky I guess. Buck 91 has no OAK. Blaze king has no rear exhaust for the free standing model that has OAK. AAAHHHHHHH.

Ok, I might have found one that may work. Jotul F55 carrabassett. If I can run it without the legs, it may fit height wise with the pipe coming out the rear, and just barley making it past the 26 or so inches height of fireplace. Gonna have to look for more specs on top of pipe height coming out the rear.
Edit. Maybe not. Looks like the OAK is located underneath, so I couldn't axe the legs.

Take a look at the Enviro Kodiak and see if that will fit. Also check out the Osburn 2000 and PE Inserts.
