I did not realise ho much heat you lose when you have to a lot aches in you wood insert. I cleaned it out today it got hot in here real fast. Any feed back

Jim, I'm sure you mean ashes in the insert. Aches I have in my old bones. It sounds like something was being blocked. I normally let the ashes go as long as possible, but it may depend on the insert. What make/model are you burning in?
 
Its an old 1996 englander that I had in the pole barn for the past 10 years I cleaned it real good called eanglander ask what to check to make sure there were no problems. They are real helpful and they help me with my old pellet stove also. that i put it in this year been setting in pole barn to. Had to update electric panel or controls.
