I am currently in the market for a living room stove. Found this old one on Craigslist. Was curious if that seam down the side is normal or it's a crack. It's an hour drive to see it so hopefully someone here may have an idea.

Looks like a seam to me. You do realize that that stove is going to need 36" to combustibles all around it and a full hearth under it right? I would also recommend a full tear down and rebuild before using it. Start a conversation with member coaly. He may know the answer.

I don't recall seeing that before. There isn't a seam on the Atlanta Woodsman, but maybe this stove has one. Ask the seller if there an identical matching seam on the opposite side.
