I bought a Harman & Breckwell 4 RPM CW auger motor recently and I noticed there is a hole in the auger shaft going through the diameter of the shaft. I was also sent a pin that looks like it is supposed to go into the hole.

My question is why? What’s the purpose of the hole with or without the pin?

None of my other motors had a hole or came with a pin.

Just curious
Thanks

I've never seen a Harman Auger Motor with a hole thru the shaft, so I'm
thinkin there might be a Breckwell out there that uses a pin drive for the auger.

That would be my guess also

Older Breckwell used set screw and around 2002 they started using a pin
