Auger replacement? - Accentra FS

Just finished my spring cleaning. I've had my eye on the auger for the last few years, and the attached picture shows the state of things. The tip is paper thin, and you can see that part of the auger blade is detached from the shaft. I'm thinking replacement. Thoughts? Also, any idea where I could find one at a reasonable price? Here in Canada, Harman parts are very expensive. Any help is appreciated.

I'd pull it out and have a welder add an extension to the tip in the same shape as a new part. A picture of the new one will serve as a guide. Been there done that, plus considerable savings over new one of $100 plus.

If you run it too long with an eroded tip the auger tube will wear through which is a PITA to fix.

You should take a look at your burn pot. Open the front plat where the igniter is and look inside to the bottom of the pot from underneath, if you have 5 holes at the bottom of the pot (right where the auger pushes them out) you are going to need a new burn pot and a new auger. Those holes allow the fire to burn too far down inside the pot and causes the auger to "melt", if left to its own devices, the feeder body will errode too and then you pretty luch need a new stove...it's not hard to remove the auger, it all happens from the back of the stove. There are many threads here that show how to do this work.

Hi Scott. I did as you suggested - my current burn pot does have 5 holes. Do you have any suggestions you care to pass along as to where I could get the replacement parts (auger, burn pot, gasket)? Thank you again for your kind assistance.

The 5 burn pot holes can be tig welded closed instead of buying a new part. Just unbolt it, clean it up and drop off at a welding shop. A gasket can be purchased at local Harman dealer or ordered online, quick Google search will show multiple dealers to order from.

That is some good money saving advice,make sure the welds are from the inside and there ain't no slag in the pot. Mountain View Hearth Supply is a goof online parts dealer

Gentlemen - thank you both very much for your responses. My plan is to pull the stove apart this weekend and take the pieces to a local machine shop and see what they say about repair. I've used them before for other jobs, so I'm confident they can do the work.
