Hello all i clean my avalon pedalton insert last night. There is a peace of insulation that sit on top of the ceiling row of fire brick . It pretty much came apart in my hands. It was junk. Its a sheet of 1/2 thick insulation that just sits there. Is it ok to have a fire with out it.

It's ok, but the stove will burn better with a new insulation blanket in place. A replacement blanket isn't expensive.
