Hello all . I have a little avalon pedilton insert in my fireplace in my basement. I installed it around 5 years go and it has worked Great. I put all new door gaskets in during the install. It was last cleaned in December. The flue is a 23' long insulated flex liner. I usually sweep it twice a year depending on use. Once at the beginning of the cold and usually around Christmas. It was cold last night so I thought i would fire it up. It took a minute to get the draft reversed and pulling good. At the beginning of the burn I kept smelling smoke I couldn't see it but it i kept smelling it with the door closed witch isn't normal. Any ways I once done i shut it down and went to bed. Now a day later my hole basement smells like strong stale smoke. I know it could use a sweep but I burn.good wood so it can't be that dirty. Would a new door gasket Help?

Sounds like negative pressure in the basement. Are there any windows open a little upstairs or an attic door or vent that needs closing? Have any exhaust devices been added like a radon fan or kitchen or bath exhaust fan, or a new clothes dryer?
Is there a screen on the chimney cap? If so, does this get cleaned when the flue is cleaned?
