Yes, definitely a bumper crop of deer flies here. I can easily kill a couple dozen on the 1/4 mile trail down to the water and then again on the way back up.

The birds and squirrels take almost all the blueberries blackberries and apples here in my yard. Same thing every year.

I haven't gotten much, but at least for my raspberries I need to stay on top of picking (and more effectively netting) if I want to get anything. As far as blueberries, I decided I am going to just grow in containers to control the soil as best I can. My patriot and pink lemonade are not pleased currently, lol.

Blueberries here are indeed very good this year.
Raspberries have suffered some from the drought, I think, as their crop was poor so far.

I've been just the opposite, I've had a great raspberry crop this year while my blueberries have not been so good. The raspberries are in a better location than the blueberries though.

Interesting.
Our raspberries last year were producing almost more than we could eat.
Now we have had about two bowls and it stopped. Some new growth with better looking leaves is there though and I see flowers, so maybe we'll catch up.

Our blueberries are about 10 times what we had last year.

Apples are doing great too. Kousa berries too. Pears not. But each of those is only one tree, so variability year over year is to be expected

Our blueberries are covered. They don't get any until we are done picking. There are soooo many Himalayan blackberries around here that there is plenty for everyone. The streets are litterally lined with them.

Last Saturday the missus' and I went on a day kayak trip to a flowage we'd never been to. Stopped for lunch at an unoccupied waterside campsite and found awesome patch of blackberries. Had to get creative for storage and transport...

I dug up and potted my pink lemonade and patriot bluebs around the time I last posted here. I also used vaccinium macrocarpon (low bush cranberry) as a living mulch in the patriot. After a couple of weeks, the improvement is noticeable. My patriot took a beating with some scald and some accidental pruning but I am sure it will come back. The cranberry almost immediately put out new growth! The pink lemonade took a bit longer but is starting to put out some nice growth.

I did a 50/50 mix of peat moss and home-mulched pine bark. The bark probably isn't as good as the rotting stuff, but it will get there. Containers it is for berries moving forward! 🤣 Currently using 25 gallon grow bags, but the pink lemonade is in a smaller one until I need to up pot.

Heritage raspberry is starting to put out its fall crop. The rumors are true, as far as quantity the fall crop is much larger. I hope they are bigger and better quality than the summer floricane crop. Moving forward, I am going to pair a floricane summer bearing variety with the heritage and just cut down the canes on the heritage to maximize the fall crop. Hoping that helps with quantity and quality.
