Even plank on a concrete floor can be difficult. Mine called for less than 1/8” variation in height across 6’.

I was no where close. It would have been $500-1000 just for pour down leveling. We mixed two full bags for the worst part.

Basements are hard. I almost guarantee if they did a tape down moisture test it would be too high. The would guess the slab was not poured with a vapor barrier. I would skip the glue down and install planks. My two cents.

The installer absolutely needs to be held accountable for not testing.

We had old rubber backed short pile carpet glued down in the basement...came with the house. It was old n ugly...it got doused during a sewer backup and that was that, out it came.
Had to spending many hours scraping the glue/backing off.
Then I painted it with some of that epoxy garage floor paint with the color flecks in it. That has worked out very well.
Ton of work to do properly though...rented a diamond grinder to level a few spots, then acid wash it, then rinse, several times. Once dry the edges were taped, paint rolled in 1-2 yard squares, sprinkle flakes before dry...repeat on next square...has held up really well though! And wasn't expensive to do either...dunno what it costs now though

Cheap LVP is $2 a sq foot. Lay down plastic underneath. That’s got to be cheaper than glue down tile. I did a weird shaped 1200 sq ft basement in a day by myself. It’s not perfect. The plastic got bunched in a couple places. The floor wasn’t flat enough…. But it’s a basement, kids spilled Gatorade left a light stain. Baby colored it with pencils and crayons. Plumber dripped primer on it. I don’t care!

It’s way drier than the carpet and we had mold under the glue down bamboo. You must have a moisture barrier for a basement slab.
