One split per, oh, say 20 minutes? Plus having to chase your wood all over the place? No thanks, I'll stick with the standard methods.
 
We plunge cut in two places in the log if it's 12' or longer, add powder a wood wedge in each cut & a fuse. Works pretty well in big stuff as long as you don't go crazy with the powder. A C

Yea, a couple guys I know are good with the black powder. Only issue was a wedge that let go & the powder just burned. Nice sparkler, but no action. Split a 60" x 20' Red oak trunk slick as can be. A C
