Not only have one on the floor but know every square inch of the stove inside and out and how to operate it. There are a lot of dealers out there that haven't a clue about operation or parts on the brands they sell.
It certainly appears that the members of these forums have vastly more knowledge about the stoves most of the dealers who sell them. The dealers seem to carry multiple lines and wood stoves are often just a part of their far larger and more varied inventory. So it would be like going to Sears and asking questions about the Blaze King. Whatever they tell you is sometimes just gleaned from a review of the literature that we can find for ourselves.
The local dealer did tell me that Blaze King has a very loyal following. When he first picked up the line, he didn't expect to sell many. Then he found people were calling him who had 20 year old Princesses and they'd say they want to buy another. He was impressed with the customer loyalty and that's when he realized the product was special.
That's great to know. Just wish Blaze King made an effort to provide customer service above and beyond that offered by the dealer. Seems like a lot of manufacturers do not. Ran into similar issues with Lopi. In fact, they didn't even want to talk to me. At least BKVP comes around here and shares his knowledge, and the front office took my call, though they did not follow through on what they said they would do.
Here's an update. Just received an e-mail from BKVP. He spoke to the folks in the front office and they're going to work to see if they can find a dealer who has a stove (and/or is willing to order one) somewhere in my region. Thanks so much BKVP for your help.

Hey, even if you're kidding, thanks. Here in Washington it's illegal to put in a used stove. I'm not qualified to do it myself and good luck finding someone else to do it. On top of that, might create problems with my homeowners insurance since it couldn't pass inspection.
If you you want to make the journey to the East side of the state, Spokane has a dealer with an Ashford on the floor.
Begreen, I was told the stove would have to be certified as being in "new" condition and it would be too expensive to get such certification.
Mfetcho, the east side of the state is a very long drive. I'd be willing to go up to Vancouver or down as far as Seattle. In other words, I'd drive two hours (each direction) but not six.

Either I missed the reg, (possible) or someone is blowing smoke at you. I bought our stove used from a dealer and there was no certification done. How do you think they sell floor demos?
Begreen is right. I have installed 2 used wood stoves in Washington and the inspector just looks for the EPA sticker on the back.
Perhaps the guy was "blowing smoke." Good to know, in case I should run into a good deal on a used stove.
I'm still thinking it makes sense to make sure it's a stove that will work well for our home. Otherwise, one winds up having to pay for a second installation. At least one, like me, who is not qualified to do it himself.
