Block off Plate Distance to Top of Stove

So I just finished my install and my stove sits a bit high in my fireplace - this lead me to question how far away does the top of my wood stove need to be from the block off plate. Right now the distance is about 7" - My block off plate made out of .030" thick stainless steel sheet metal. Above the plate is several layers of the fire resistant insulation blanket. I'm guessing this is acceptable but want some of your thoughts.

I'd say that's more than enough. If I had to guess mine is 2-3". Situation is a little different since I have an insert so there's already an extra layer of metal between the stove top.

Given that your stove is sitting fairly deep a small fan pushing cool air into the firebox would probably help to get the heat retained by the block-off out into the room.

No worries, it should be fine. It is entirely non-combustible.
