Question:

I have a rental property. It has a fireplace that i would like to cap off or plug up so that the renters cant use it anymore. Do you know where I can buy a decorative plug to plug up the fire place so that it cant be used?

Answer:

The best idea might be to simply have a handyman bolt the damper closed. This, along with a lease clause and or written document to the tenants should do the job.

Also, why don't you install a set of inexpensive electric logs in the fireplace? That would give the tenants some decoration and stop them from trying a real fire.
