Just got an new Fasco replacement blower for my Pacific Energy Summit. The housing is identical to my old one but the motor has 3 hot leads and is designed for a 3 speed switch. My old motor had a single hot and was hooked to a rheostat.

Before I start hunting for a 3 speed switch, does any one know for sure if I could just hook up my existing rheostat to the High speed lead and control the blower that way without motor damage?

here are the blower specs.

Thanks
Mark

You should be able to pick off of the high speed terminal with your rheo. BUT.....Try this off of the stove, out in the open and run at ~1/2 speed for awhile. Make sure that the motor does NOT get hot. You will know within about 10 minutes if this is acceptable or not. If your motor starts to heat up (HOT to the palm), you will need to do something else. If it stays cool (or even a bit warm), you should be good to go.

Good plan
Thanks for the thoughts
