I want to vote for blowers working fine here in my 6th year but not an option. Just goofing around but now that I've jinxed myself; if both blowers are not working with switch on manual I would guess the switch has gone bad. If the fans will not come on automatically then the snap disk is bad, it's too far from the bottom of the stove or there's too much ash.

If one blower is working and the other is not try plugging the working fan into the others power supply cord and see if it works. Very easy to access the fans, switch and all.

One thing, the Jotul 550 does not have an ash lip so you have to take care not to allow the fans to get dirty with ash and/or dust. So far still going...

Thank you for your reply, we found the problem. It was the electrical cord, it worked it's way loose inside the cover. Was not making a solid connection.

After 4 years my Jotul 550C fans are acting up..they run 24/7 all winter long. I had the speed control act up first ...had to use the small white dash pot on the control to get it to work..only works on high but that's fine. Now one fan intermittently squeals...have lubed it with silicon a few times ...works for a while.

Just ordered a kit with two 75 CFM fans , new controller and temp control ...$150. I am sure the ones I have will be giving up the ghost soon.

What did you order? For that price im thinking they arent OEM. Buy some turbine oil its what a lot of HVAC techs use on furance motors, I founs some at ACE. Silicone will not last long at all for blowers.

Thats also interesting about the speed control. My blowers will sometimes slow down then speed up, i didnt even consider that.

It is a kit.2 X 75 CFM fans, controller, and auto switch...they are running right now..just put in last night..nice and quite. Not sure they quite move as much air but it's plenty..I wanted new controller so I can turn the down at times. Quality seems less sturdy than originals and cord for plug is cheap and short..we will see..so far so good but it's only been 24 hrs. I may by-pass the auto on switch..I think it takes a little to long to come on...I will try moving it to a hotter area 1st. FireplaceBlowerOutlet.com

BTW..if you try adjusting the small white dash pot..very little turn of the screwdriver needed..mark original position with a marker..let us know if it helps.

We have a Jotul 550C wood insert and love everything about it but the noise of the blower fans. They are not loud, but are a very high frequency. We just went to a shop and listened to some blowers from other manufacturers and they are the same loudness (~55dB) but the frequency is very different (our Jotul is 1000 Hz and theirs was about 100 Hz I think - using an iPhone app). Is this driving anyone else crazy with this insert? Does anyone have any solutions? If we can't fix this issue we're thinking of getting a new insert. We can turn down the fans, but then our house freezes...

Yes, it has always been like this - we would like to try to use different fans. Has anyone else had this experience with Jotul inserts? Maybe the newer fans are not as bad?

We had some warranty service done on the blowers because they rattled really bad at first. After several visits, they solved the rattling problem - but the high pitch of the blowers has been present since day one and with two different sets of blower units.
