I've been looking to buy a Quadra fire Classic Bay 1200 Insert. Before buying from a dealer, I decided to check craigslist and stumbled upon a supposedly brand new one for $1500.

Here's the story I got from the owner.
"We bought this house in May and the people who sold us the house never got to finish the renovations they started. This was sitting in the fireplace ready to install. It has the installation book and other parts packets that aren’t even opened yet."

Now in the photos, it appears very clean, possibly brand new. My only hesitation based on the photos, is that it appears to have been spray painted on the pallet. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. Attached are the photos I was sent. What do you all think? Also, if I were to look at it, what should I look for?

Thats a good deal. Most of us have repainted our stoves. As long as everything is there for the stove and it opperates. I wouldn’t hesitate buying it.

It has been a couple of years since I put my FS stove in. But, I remember the pallet having paint on it. That is a great deal if it works.

Jump on it- about half the cost of a new one on sale.....

Looks good, i doubt they took the time to remove all the silver bolt on's and wires to paint it and didnt think to not paint it on the pallet, If they were trying to pull one over on you.
You should be able to tell if its ever been fired when you look on the inside.

I bought a brand new stove this year and it was painted on the pallet. kind of like they touched up the bottom.
