As a owner of now a second Jotul F500 woodstove I have a few questions to the current owners of Jotul F500V3 woodstoves if Icould get some feedback after this years burning season.

Are the Ashpan stove door gaskets been properly installed /seated as new with proper airtight seal in general ? or have you found that the gasket will need to be replaced / reinstalled new for the next burn season this winter 2026 ?

I have been noting quite a bit of creasote buildup on the ashpan door an inner door closing mechanism , gasket seems like its compressed but might need to be reinstalled with another gasket again .

NO , I do not have the so called air leaks from the 2 holes in ashpan housing , which upon my search / look they were factory sealed upon when I purchased / recived the stove from dealer . Yes I had performed a smoke test on the stove which is air tight , no leaks .

I did disconect the rear air temperature controller sensor wire and have found with the rear trap door tiny opened the stove operates like my older F500 V2 .
This was done by me after noting burn times were very short and the front air control did really nothing to slow or control my burns and was running always extremely hot till the fire got down to a bed of coals / ash.

My fires are now running longer and the front air controller seems to be working as my F500 V2 operated . The temps are burning / heating to what is reccomended per mfg. and I take note via a thermometer on top and occaisoional Thermal heat thermometer camera .

A few nice people on this site gave me this advice on the rear air controller disconect , as they were having the same common issue for this Brand New F500 V3 stove which seems to be a common issue .
