Just got back from loading some very nice looking silver maple. Tree service posted it on CL. I offered a few bucks tip to the workers and they refused, by the time they were don loading my truck the were falling over them selfs "thanking " me for hauling it away. Will be a nice addition to my 2010/2011 stacks.

A buddies parents had a huge silver taken down a couple months back. I ended up with three full cords and I didn't even take the trunk! Not the best wood but you don't always need to burn the hardest of the hardwoods.

Free loaded wood is about the best wood I know of...nice score and I hope they have your number. I have a relationship like that going right now and it is sweet.

I like Silver Maple. It splits relatively easy, dries fast and gives me a good fire with nice coals and no problem with an overnight burn.
