Does anyone measure stove temp on the block off plate on top of the stove ? I get about 100 degrees difference between stove pipe(on top of it, not side) and block off plate.
 
Sorry, my top plate has a pipe shoved into it. I wouldn't bother measuring that top plate since the owner's manual instructs you on where to measure the stove temp and at what temp the thing will turn to dust.
