Can a Jotul Oslo F500 be from 1990?

I've been looking to move from a Jotul F3 CB to a F500, specifically a V1 or possibly V2. I've been very happy with the F3, but it's much too small for what we're asking of it.

Seller of the F500 I'm considering claims he bought it new in 1990. My understanding is that the F400/500 models were originally released around 2000. Am I wrong about that? The pics confirm it is, indeed, an F500.

If 1990 is a possible manufacture, is there any downside to buying one from that early period? Were there changes between 1990 and 2000, for example? I assumed all V1 were the same.

Or is the seller just completely misremembering when he bought it?

Thanks.

That sounds correct. I don't remember the exact year but it was around 2000./2001 for the F400. I thought the F500 was a little after that but not positive. The first models had a cast iron baffle. Check that for warping. If so, it can be replaced with a refractory baffle.

Examine very carefully for cracks. Look around the flue collar and pay very close attention to the interior grate area at the firebox bottom. It will need to be cleaned of ash to do this. Remove the grate and look for spidery cracks at the corners of the grate well. Wipe with a damp rag to see better. If cracks are developing there, the ba$e will need replacing.

google AI says the F500 was released in 1999. There is no manual to the F500 listed on the the older Jotul manuals page for pre 2000.

If it’s that old then it’s possibly a Firelight??
