I meant to do this years ago, but better late than never. I have lots of pics so will do it in a few sections.

I found a "like new" Jotul f400 about 5 hours away near Boston in 2019. I paid $1,600 for this Blue/Black enamel version. At the time a similar f400 new was over 3K and a multi week wait. This stove did turn out to be in Great condition.

I had my wife's Honda crv and our dog to get the job done. The seller was a nice lady who helped me clean the inside and roll it on a dolly thru her house and onto the back deck. She had an older shop vac that she lent me to vac out every bit of ash and soot in the stove. There was not much but enough was stuck to the walls and baffle to make a soot mess if not vacuumed out. I cleaned it to be pristine, in about 10 minutes.

Step 1. Put drop cloths all around to contain mess and have space to put pieces.
2. Disconnect stove from stovepipe. This Was already done.
2A. Lift off Ash lip and put in Box.
3. Remove back top/rear vent adapter (2 bolts) Put in carboard box with gaskets and the 2 bolts.
3A. Remove large piece on back of stove, that vent adapter bolted onto. Put in box. (This may be step 4 or 5 i just dont remember?)
4. Reach in and lift deflector plate up and out. No screws, it just sits in the slot. Put in a small cardboard box.
5. Located 2 "shipping bolts" on right and left side that hold down top. Unbolt (i did not reuse these, they are better left off for easier cleaning of the stove in the future) Lift off Top and put in a box, top down to preserve gasket.
6. Remove door. Lift off and put in a box. Be careful, i left the handle on. Padding is a help with this box.

Now is a good time to take boxes outside and put in safe place. Clean up drop cloths. Carefully lift stove one side at a time onto a dolly. Roll stove outside slowly.

7. Now outside you can use a leaf blower to blow out the inside. Then you can shop vac it.
8. Lift off top baffle plate. Slide angle brackets that hold it tight to free it. Put in a Box along with gaskets.
9. Remove inner plates both sides and back (lift them out). Put each in a box.
10. Mark position and Remove firebricks from behind back plate. Be very careful these are delicate and keep in order and front and back and top and bottom. They are tight to refit and go back in best as they were in before.
11. Remove ash pan and put in box.
12. Remove Ash Grate, put in box.

Part 2.

1. Put Dog bed in front of cargo area.
2. Lift body of stove into cargo area. Cardboard or plywood on floor helps. Very gently slide stove in. Be careful legs can break if you are to rough.
3. Pack boxes all around to stuff it tight
4. Strap around stove so it does not slide or tip over.
5.Cover everything in a plastic sheet.
5. Pay the lady, tell the dog to jump in and Drive very chill on way home.

End Part 2

Part 3

1. Let dog out to pee,
2. Lay all boxes by door closest to install room.
3. Carry or dolly stove body into house and put in place (or close to final placement) leave room to reassemble.
4. Put down Drop clothes
5. Bring in boxes 1 at a time and reassemble in reverse order.
6. Get some furnace cement to touch up any areas that may need resealing.
7. Make sure to replace any damaged gaskets when reinstalling each piece.
8. I left off top "shipping bolts". They are best left off in my opinion.
9. Hand tighten bolts. Do NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
10. Slide into final position hook up pipe and enjoy.
11. Tell your dog she did a good job!

So we’re you able to lift it off the dolly? My plan was to use ratchet straps to the entire stove and dolly up into the van on 2x6 ramps. Never got to see how it worked.

EBS-P - It was on a deck that was about the height of my crv floor. I backed right up to it. i think we both grabbed a side and "scooted" it into the crv. I did bring a few 2x4's to do exactly what you were going to do but turned out the deck Transfer worked out very well. It really is much lighter with all those parts removed.

That's how our F400 left the house. For the T6 I used 2x8s with a brace, then ratchet strapped it to the appliance dolly.
