We just bought a Quadrafire Isle Royal Cast iron stove.

The owners manual does not say what the highest temperature is that we should run it at before over-firing. Does anyone have any idea? We have a stove top thermometer.

Thanks!

Welcome.

400 to 700 F
And that temp is stove top I assume?

Is it better to keep it in the 600-700 range to slow down creosote creation?

If you need a lot of heat run it up to 700 if not it is fine to run at 500.

You can take the temp on the side of the stove or the top but the top is fine.

Take the temp on the stovetop. This is a willing heater. With a full load of dry wood it will probably run in the 650-700F initially before it settles down to around 650F. If it occasionally does a foray up to 750F on a reload, don't freak out. Just be sure you have the air controls shut down and ride it out.
