My Quad Castille was manufactured in 2007 and installed Jan. 2008. Besides a combustion motor last winter I had had very good luck with the stove. My issue is... I started my stove last night the stove ignited, flame and then blower motor came on. Everything was fine. I had to step out for about an hour or so and when arriving home the stove had stopped. I do not know what it did before it actually stopped. But....my Auger feeder will not work. I have no pipe blockage, my vacuum switch rubber hose is clear, I slip a paper clip in the nipple on the auger and that appeared to slide right in with no blockages. It doesnt appear to be any jams.
When I plug the stove in, the combustion motor starts, but no pellets drop, even with a reset. The igniter ignites.
I have read the other posts that were posting awhile back on it but does not appear to help me.
What I have done....remove all pellets in the chute. Checked for all blockages, I have by passed the vacuum switch....BUT...I read on the other post someone mentioned by passing both the vacuum switch AND the #1 snap disc and setting the control box to 0. NOTE: I have a clear control box with NO settings on it...I did try re seating my box. ALSO...is the #1 snap disc the one right on the auger shoot? The manual is a bit un detailed.
When I plug in the stove...I get no sound whatsoever out of the auger/motor. If it went, shouldnt I have smelt something odd? And...do those give ANY warnings at all or can they just fail quickly? I need to mention....When turning on the stove....I get the red call light coming on as normal. I also get a sequence of the blue light blinking 4 times then stopping then blinking 4 times again....it does that i think about 4 sequences of 4 times then stops

I deeply appreciate any response that could help.... :) Thank you!

Hey fellow Maine-ah, and yes, it is gettingchillyinmaine this AM ! :p Did you look on the side of your control board opposite the tabs that plug into the control box 'cradle' - there should be a small dial there.

I'll get back to you, or someone else will soon, but check that first - UNPLUG the stove, as always before you pull the box back out to try a diagnostics on it.

page 38 of the manual - have you check snap disc #3 - does it need to be reset? Manual gives location of snap discs ...(broken link removed to http://hearthnhome.com/downloads/installManuals/7021_130.pdf)

Hey again, ME Pellethead. #3 snap disc that Lake Girl mentioned is on the back side of your auger tube, and has a red center post you can manually reset by pushing it back down, if that got tripped. Stove unplugged before any electrical intervention, !

Sorry for delay....had company....thanks for the quick replys!! I found the dial on the control board. You know....I thought there was a reset....but wasnt sure....I'm going to check now to see if it was tripped...be back to update

Im not sure im resetting the correct one....I think i am...lol The disc itself has no red button that i can see...the manual says red reset button too but the whole thing is all tan. and the "what i think" is a reset doesnt feel like one...meaning Im not sure its actually a reset, doesnt depress much if at all. Should I feel it resetting like a snap or anything? And it off the side of the auger...

Likely have snap disc #2 ... you can remove and clean side toward stove to see if that would help...

#3 has an actual post in the center that can be reset:

yes....this is what mine looks like....but tan :) I'm going to take out and clean as u mention. Also havent removed my auger...going to do that as well just to see if the auger motor will turn or jammed....

If #3 snap disc was tripped, there would be no juice anywhere. #2 snap disc will shut off power to auger motor if stove gets too hot. the blinking blue lights just say what setting the control box is on. Try jumping the vac switch wires together and then turn thermo up to see if auger runs. Don't mess with settings on control box unless all else fails. Let us know. kap

well...um...I was pulling the auger out to make sure no unexpected jam etc...while doing that one of the prong broke on my #3 disc :/ lol...the local shop has them at competitive prices, so going to get one. But besides that...I forgot to mention I have a wireless smart batt thermo....however...I'm running it on just the "on" setting on my remote so it dont matter the temp...it comes on when i just turn to on. But also....I can find #3 and #1....but where in the heck is # 2?

Another question ....while having the auger out....should I be able to turn it freely? Or not at all? (auger motor)

Should be hard to turn. Snap disc #2 is on right side, below snap disc #1. Disc #1 has two purple wires going to it.

my manual shows disc #1 on right side on the top of heat exchange box..that one has purple wires going to it...no reset

#2 says it should be on right side as well with orange wires going to it, right below #1....problem is....i cant find no #2 at all hmm

They moved these at one time. Trying to remember. It might be in hopper under metal box cover? Or is that on the CB1200? Did they eliminate it and just move #3 to a position to cover both? Try jumping #3 discs wires together and see if auger runs And what date is at bottom of your manuals front page?. kap

oct 11, 2005 is the date on my manual...the manual states 3 discs...hmm

I jumped the #3 disc. No results :/

The only thing that bugs me is....the auger motor itself...as I mentioned before....is it even suppose to move, even a little bit? When I try to move it, it dont budge, its like it locked. Doesnt turn at all

On my 2001 Castile, the #1 snap disc is in the same place as yours, but my #2 is below #1, on the sloped section that houses the combustion blower underneath it. Can't advise where they moved yours to !

Thats where i have seen on some when i looked them up, just like yours. But mine is playing hide n seek :/ Or....they eliminated....but you would think the manual would say...

They have used the same manuals for years, even tho they change things. One of my pet peeves! With no hole, no sense looking for loose wires

Would I be reaching if I suspected the auger motor? Should I be able to move it "at all"? Almost feels like its locked...

It takes a bit, buy you can move it. you can bench test it with 110v. Do you know anyone with a Quad stove you can try your control box in? Works in all but the Mt. Vernon old style and AE E2. kap

The motor should have a sticker or name plate on it listing power requirements for it. If it is 120 volts, can you supply it with 120V to test the motor? Do you have a multimeter to test voltages? If so, you should be able to check the power at the motor leads to see if power is there or not. You would only see a voltage for when the control board tells the auger to turn.

EDIT : Sorry Kap, you posted as I was typing.
