Cat got into the ash bucket

I put the ash bucket outside yesterday around noon and forgot to empty it.
Last night I let the cat in to feed her and she was covered with ash.
There must have been just the right amount of hot coals left to make it comfortable for her to lay on..
I told our grandson Matt we had to give the cat a bath before his grammy got home so we took her down to the basement.
After the first 5 seconds grandson was headed for the stairs on a dead run and I was holding onto a wet cat that was trying to sink its claws into anything within reach.
I’ll never leave a hot ash bucket where the cat can get into or try to give a cat a bath.

Mine rolls in the piles outside as well.......absolutely filthy. But I usually just capture him and run my hands rapidly up & down his fur and most of it comes out without enduring the danger of trying to give him a bath. It's even worse since catnip seeds seem to always seem to germinate/sprout near the ash piles, so he's doubly drawn to them.

People talk about cats "cleaning" themselves. They aren't clean. They are covered with cat spit.

My cat will endure a bath as long as the water is very hot, same thing as the dog.
What the cat won't tolerate is the hair dryer after!
Try turning up the temperature and the cat may just like it - you will need to keep it inside for several hours though.

LOL- a buddy had a cat that wanted to be vaccuumed when they did their carpets. I have one dog that hates the hairdryer, and another that runs to my wife when she hears it.

I bet the cat equates the ash with sand. They have the sense of... well- a cat

When I was eleven I noticed my older sisters year old "kitten" was dirty so I thought I would do her a big favor
by washing it in a small stream near our house.

I learned a lot about streetfighting that day.

All of my cats, but one runs when my wife or I fire up the vac . . . and quite often that one cat will let my wife vacuum him while he just sits there or continues to sleep.

Isn't that what the washer and dryer are for? Just throw the cat in with some dirty towels and don't forget to add softener.
