NH CL has a posting for a (broken link removed to http://nh.craigslist.org/mat/4842723577.html). Just thought I would pass it on for anyone looking.

Seems like a good deal. Croydon, my kid went to camp there - one heck of a hike from the NH/MA border area.

Wonder what's wrong with it, $1400 seems a little cheap for this stove.

It might be an older one, or the guy just wants to get it off his hands. If someone doesn't snatch it up for personaly use, there is a guy on the seacoast that snaps Harmans up, cleans them and sells them for 2500-3200 - missed one to him myself a couple of months ago by 1 hour, reason I ended up with the St. Croix instead of a second Harman.

I bought a Harman 45 for 500.00 and the fellow threw in a 350 Sure Kleener. The only thing left on that stove that worked was the exh fan. So add up the cost of a new control board, ESP probe, Feed auger motor, Distribution fan, Ignitor, burn pot , Agitator for the end of the feed auger. and wiring harness.
Sometimes it is best to listen to the old saying if it looks to good to be true it usually is. I could just as well put on a new exh fan and a coat of paint then call it a new stove.

In other words you bought a $500 steel shell.

I agree with Rona but Bogieb's optimism could be correct also. I grabbed the PC45 from someone that didn't clean properly for $1,600 and was finished with it and wanted it gone. Have not had to replace any parts YET. Took everything apart and spent a lot of time cleaning and going over it. Buying anything used is a huge risk. Sometimes you win and other times you get spanked. Do ya feel lucky?

I believe you seen it working ?

Yes I did! I listen to good advice, Bio. It was all working but not very well at all. Very lazy flame and dirty stove. I will also add that I did replace the rope gaskets on both doors and spent oodles of time cleaning and going thru stuff. Pretty much disassembled the stove except for the exhaust blower fan and unit which is seized on. That will have to be cut off when the replacement time comes.

Seller said my PC45 worked great too. NOT! This one states the same but it does look hooked up for a test fire. Rona's points were shooting straight. Once you get into many expensive parts replacements that "cheap or free puppy dog" just wound up costing you tons of money. Not counting all of the time IF you can do your repairs. Paying a service tech, then you would likely be better off paying for a new stove at some point.

I don't need no stink'in service tech..................;lol

New Hampshire is a bit far for me to drive......................

Let me tell you, if it weren't way too big for my upstairs I would at least go out and check it out. I just don't have anyplace upstairs big enough for a P61. Now, a 38 or 45, I might be able to (depends on wall clearances) - it would be wicked tight though if I remember correctly.

Don't anyone tell the St. Croix I'm having thoughts of a Harman put in its place. It and I have started getting along real good since I replaced the door gasket last weekend - the flame is finally where I think it should be.

So go off the Ladies Tee with a Three-Wood. . . .
I had to do that once when my drive landed on the Ladies Tee. ;em. My buddies would not let me use a tee for the second shot. Oh well big divot in the ladies tea it was.

Where were all those used Harmans that were in my price range I was looking?

You mean when oil was $4.00 a gal ? In use !

Somehow I and my beautiful wife have never enjoyed a romantic evening and a glass of wine in front of the oil burner . . .
You need an old boiler and open the door ! I had one of those in this very house at one point in time ( no not in the living room), it sounded about like one of those F4's you flew in, and stunk as bad. American Standard it was.

Thats funny and they do stink.

Hey they did the same thing in the F4's as I did in my boiler, "changed out the Burner". I used a new Becket at the time, can't speak for the F4.

Oil is still around $3 / gal around here. Propane is over that unless you didn't lock in the price over the summer (which I would guess the majority did after the $5.50 spike last winter)

That's ugly bogieb.. Here oil is $2.29 this week. .

Ah, that first Harman is a 2001. Now I know why the refurb master on the coast (is that someone on this forum) hasn't jumped on it.
