I have a brand new Harman p61 and tried to use it on room mode. I switched it from constant where the room was 75. I set it on 1 (50) to see what would happen. I was expecting it to shut off but it didn't. The sensor is just stretched out from the back of the stove to a table 3 feet away which would be at the same temp. It's in my kitchen which is maybe 10x10 so it maintains heat well. I was expecting it to turn off immediately which it didn't do so I switched back to constant. Does it take some time to recognize the temperature before it reacts or is there something wrong? I never use it but thought I'd try it. Or should the status light go off indicating it's shutting down. I neglected to look at it. And never considered it takes 20 minutes or more to show any signs of shut down. Next time I'll spend more time and check the status light.

It does take some time before it will shut down because it wants to make sure it isn't a blip or random air current. Also, it depends on if the igniter was on or off.

It would be great if you would post a picture of your control panel settings so that we can see them while you have all these problems. It can be a great clue and sometimes we changed things and don't even realize (or remember it) it - like the ignitor switch is easy to bump on or off. Having issues is not normal with these P-series stoves - they are as simple as they get and very reliable.
