I have a 30 year old Harman P61 manual light and I've heard conflicting reports as to wether it will shut down or go out to "idle" when its too warm to run.
I thought we already solved this months ago...it shut down then because that switch was in the "up" positionProbably and assume are nice, but I need a yes or no if I'm going to spend big $$$ to up grade it to an ignitor. If it does completely shut down I will if it idles I won't.
That's what I wanted to hear thanks. Any idea what the temp was at the flame?the last 3 lines in bold print on my reply came from a harman site...
not sure why i 2nd guessed myself on this because I actually knew that harman without ignitor will not shut down unless u turn dial off or run out of fuel. burning 14 years.. [my P61A has a switch that if i push it down in room temp mode the stove will be same as yours as it disables the ignition and just simmers along in maint mode when not calling for heat.. many use this method so the ignitor is not firing up many times during the day or nite and just keeps a small flame going. uses a few more pellets though as opposed to being off..
I never tried it. That was back at the point when it was jamming upI thought we already solved this months ago...it shut down then because that switch was in the "up" position
Installing am igniter is probably not easy, but it does come in handy in the fall and spring. In the winter you would want to leave it in "idle" mode anyway for sure. I ran all winter that way, and my basement stayed exactly at 70F. Running low on pellets though, and winter is still here.I was testing it and it jammed up on the final test.
Homehardware? They're right down the street from me. I get 4 bags at a time.Installing am igniter is probably not easy, but it does come in handy in the fall and spring. I get mine at Home Depot, and in the winter I don't want to go there. For $60?or something like that I got 2 pallets 140 bags delivered.Homehardware? They're right down the street from me. I get 4 bags at a time.
You need to get room mode working betterNow it's changing temps all by itself again. Jumped from 340 to 400 over night. And the night before it jumped from 380 to 430 all while I was sleeping. Opened the door to clean it out came back 20 minutes late it's back to 340, has been all day. This was about 6am.
Again you are overthinking it allThat's what I wanted to hear thanks. Any idea what the temp was at the flame?
That's in stove mode. You need to get room mode working better
Yes, but in room mode it has some regulation. If your stove is located in the room you want to heat, you would just extend your probe to an inside wall. If your stove is not in the room you want to regulate, ie a door separates the area you want to heat, it won't regulate that other room at all. But at least it's free to try for the room it's in. All you need is two conductor 18 guage wire and some small stab connectors. I cut my wire, but that is because I mounted just the sensor on a wall and used existing thermostat wire. You could use an old type mercury type or a millivolt type also, but it's not the same hookup. They would be wired in series with the probe at the stove. That's in stove mode.
I haven't pulled the board yet, but would the dip pins in the new one build in 2025, the same as the old one built in 2022. Same version FRan it on 2 all night.l, no issues, turned it up to 3 and it ramped up to over 400 f, wiggled the knob and it's down to 330. So the knob ( potentiometer) is buggered. I'm off to get a new board. Second one in 2 years. Not impressed
