Cherry Pit Fuel PelPro 130

With the current Somerset shortage my local PP dealer is selling cherry pit fuel. I bought 10 bags to burn. The flame is huge with a lot of soot. I mixed it half and half with the Somersets I had left, still pretty bad. I have the trim adjusted back to -3.5, almost all the way back. All the other pellets selling in the area didn't look impressive at all. I don't want to eat the cherry pit pellets, so I'd like to burn the remaining 8 bags.

Any input on this. Can this damage my unit? I plan on doing a full cleaning including the stove pipe once the weather breaks.

The PP130 is not a multi fuel stove, although most will handle a % of corn and pellets ive never heard of anyone using cherry pits. Mix more pellets than pits and let us all know how it works.

I guess it does say sawdust based or wood by products, I should have paid more attention. I figured when the dealer said it was good, I would be okay. I was thinking of mixing the pits in with maybe a 1:10 ratio, or thereabouts. (The 1 being the pits). I've been running about 50/50 and its not very good.

Hey no big deal i have a vintage Quad that i did a lil experiment with anthracite coal. It works but the ash sucks lol. It did clean the bottom of the burn pot up though.

Yea, I forgot to say how bad the ash is with the cherry pits! Wow!

Cherry pits generally burn with more black ash, think it's from oil in them. Mix them and burn em up. They have more BTU per pound then pellets. I've run them in Harmans, Quads, and Heatilators with success.

I bought TSC's last half a pallet of Pro Pellets (never used them). I have enough to mix it all now.
