Chimney cap with wire screen?

Those are some little dudes. Thinking you'll need the 1/2" cloth if you expect 100% exclusion.

I've roofed a few homes and that lower kick out near the gutterline must have been a real costly addition. Our roof braces are these god awful ugly things way up higher and there's two legs. In your case probably attached at the ridge.

Absolutely. Especially as it serves no real purpose. Sure, with asphalt shingles it wasn't a big deal, but with the standing seam, that made things significantly more difficult. And our home is the only one in the whole neighborhood that has that.
The whole roof is way more complex than it actually needed to be.

But there are other things, too, that make no sense. Have a look at that indentation at the end of the garage on the right-hand side. I suppose it was to be cosmetic, but made the roofing harder and serves no real purpose...were it not there, I'd have a few more square feet of workshop area.
And that "eave with a window" above the front door is a fake, there's just the unfinished attic behind it. The other two are real, there's a bedroom above the garage.

But yes, regarding the brace, they added a short brace that attaches to the seam a bit below the ridge of the lower part of the roof. Time will tell if it's enough to hold up to severe weather. But then again, before it just had a metal boot about 1.5' tall that held it, so I think it'll suffice.

We get bluebirds in our Jotul F500 V2 every spring. Usually 3 or 4. We chose not to have a screen. We clean from the bottom up with a sooteater and I do not think it would be be able to get the screen clean. Getting on our roof is not an option especially as we get older. So every spring I rescue bluebirds from the stove.

Now that is a roof. Mine is on the roof of a one story family room addition. I wouldn't burn with the wire on the chimney cap. It will definitely clog.

Maybe we're looking at this wrong. I put back the recliner for a moment and pondered. Maybe the solution is to buy or build some nesting boxes as far away from the house as possible?

Blue Bird Nesting Boxes
We did this. It helped for 2 years until last spring where I ended up rescuing 4 bluebirds from my stove. I may try and get some more boxes to see if that helps. We only had 2 and one of them they did not use but the other they did.
