Hi and any help or guidance is greatly appreciated. I am currently in the stage of getting ready to install chimney pipe after having removed my built in wood burning fireplace in my living room and also removing the wood burning stove in my basement. My construction plan is to turn the now created alcove where the fireplace was and the basement stove pipe ran, into a spot for a much more efficient wood stove. The basement stove pipe that I completely removed is ASHT Security brand type HT 6”. I’ll attach a picture of the tag I removed. I have more than enough pipe however I need a ceiling support box that is compatible with my pipe. I have called and emailed Security and gotten no help, I also reached out to a few local stove shops and they all want to sell me a different brand of everything new. Unfortunately the cost of all new pipe is insane so I would really like to use my existing pipe again. Hope that explains my goal, if I need to clarify anything please say so.

That's a bit unusual, fireplaces usually take 8". The condition of the chimney pipe is important. If it's in good shape, then it should be reusable. However, installers may not want to take the risk of installing components of unknown history. They have their reputation and license to consider.
A few things to be careful about here:
1) Clearances. Many stoves do not permit alcove installation or have very strict rules for them. Check first before buying.
2) If a stove is found that works, the alcove height may need to be much higher.
3) Security makes several supports. The Ref. 52 may work here.

I did the homework and I will be using DVL pipe to connect from the support box to the stove to comply with clearance requirements but will double check everything. The previous fireplace pipe was 8 or 10” air cooled. That’s gone. I wanted to reuse the basement wood stove pipe. I will look into the Ref 52. Thank you.
