I have a 2550 Encore. I had to pull the stove while remodeling. I opened up the floor plan which required removing the very old masonry chimney. That was a nasty project. Interesting seeing the wood structure below the old fireplace. It was pretty much a charcoal base below the refractory. Anyway that is gone. I have only one place to put the stove and will be going either Selkirk or the new(er) DuraTech. Due to room constraints it has to be a packed 6" chimney. For those of you with experience, do you prefer one over the other? Why?
Flue configuration will be horiz DVL or DS double wall off the back of the stove. I purchased the round VC adapter as the 2550 came with an oval termination. Thru the wall thimble in an interior wall to to the supported 103HT tee and straight up about 16-18' thru appropriate fire stops AIS and such. I just framed up the exterior enclosure where it exits the building and goes up thru the eve of the second floor. All the second floor &roof framing is new so it actually kinda looks like it is supposed to be there. So what do you like?
