Clinkers no matter what I do

I have burned both Hamer and Stove Chow pellets on every fuel setting, high and low elevation etc. and am still getting clinkers forming and sticking to the pot sides and growing to the point that it actually won't relight. I have replaced the burn pot,and the floor springs, did not help. I just can't seem to figure this out this year Any suggestions?

I have been using Rutland Stove glass cleaner all season, should be ok. I have it hooked to an OAK and I just unhooked that to see if it makes any difference, I just can't understand how any pellet I use is forming these clinkers that won't drop out because of sticking to the pot sides.

when i took scotts advice and stopped using grease lighting to clean the glass and just use water now i have not had a clinker since

I have burned about a dozen brands of pellets, both hard and soft, in my Quadrafire Mt Vernon AE Insert and never had a clinker until I picked up some PA Pellet blend about a month ago. OMG The ash pan had nothing BUT clinkers! HUGE ones! I even had one jam the autoclean door. Went back to my VT Wood Pellets (softwood), no more clinkers. Can't understand why the PA Pellets did that (my buddy with a Harmon loves them and has no problems with them). Bottom line - keep trying brands 'til you find what works for your stove.

We stopped selling the PA pellets 2 years ago. Nice folks but they can not make a decent pellet. Those pellets cost our company a lot of money.

im sure some glass cleaning chemicals can cause issues such as clinkering, but its usually elevated chloride content which causes it in your ash.......

I will try going back to using just water to clean the glass and see what happens.

You can always use a wet paper towel for the first wipe, then dip the towel into the ash for some abrasion. Then use a fresh wet towel for the rinse and then a dry towel for the final clean. PRESTO!
