I got a stove installed. It is 30" from the top to the bottom of the wood mantle. Also the face is 10" to the wood floor.
The installer said no worries about being combustible but you would want a hearth extension pad to protect the floor.
I burned last night and the temp of the floor and mantle got to 100 degrees F.
So I am just confirming I do not need a heat shield for the mantle - sound right?
And
I need an extension pad for the floor. BUT not really to protect it from being combustible? but for protection from wood, spark etc.

Just trying to get some verification here.

Thanks!

It should be ok once the hearth extension is installed.

What insert is this, the 1750? How is it heating? Can you post a picture of the new installation that includes the mantel?

what a difference from the 1250 insert!
We did the initial break-in burn last night...and we felt the heat! such a big difference from the 1250 insert.
The larger box is so much easier to work with! I have a temp gun and I was getting 600-700 easy, whereas with the 1250, it was a struggle to get it to 500. I think the stove sticking out is a big difference.

Thinking about getting this for the pad. I'll get some photos when I get home.

Thanks for the response.
