Question:
I live in holland and i like your site a lot because burning wood is not a very hot item in our small country, to much people and not enough trees.
I have a soapstone stove for heating my home, it looks a lot of the
hearthstone soapstone stoves which are sold in the USA, and i love it but i have spot a crack in the inside stone (which is protecting the outer stone). This crack is about 5 cm long and on both sides of the stone.
Is this normal or should i replace this stone.
Answer:
The inside stone is just a protection measure. It should not be a problem to leave it that way...patch it with stove or furnace cement if it gets larger. Wet the surface before applying the cement.
