Cracks in an Upland 207

i’ve got a 30+ year old Upland 207 wood stove. It seems that it was once repaired with some kind of high temperature putty.

The putty has long since cracked off as can be seen in the above photo.

Is it best to weld the crack shut or repair it again with high temperature putty?

Is this a cast iron stove? It appears to be but wasn't sure...if thats the case it takes the right person with the right skill set to weld cast and most won't guarantee it as it is difficult to weld....time to put her out to pasture?

Yes, it’s cast iron. Maybe furnace putty is the best option then.

Because of the contour of the casting it wouldn't be possible to bolt a plate onto the cracked area but what about inside? Is it flat there? Cause with a piece bolted over the crack AND cemented you'd have a half decent repair.

if it's an original 207 it's made of nodular cast steel that's easier to weld. be sure the reflector plates are bolted on the inside or it will crack again.
