We had quite a few fires during a cold snap last week. I checked the chimney the other day and found the insulated SS pipe was perfectly clean but I had quite a bit of soot and some glossy deposits for about an inch below the stove pipe to chimney connection. The pipe to the chimney is 5 ft and the chimney extends another 15 ft through the roof. No elbows - just a straight shot. Wood seemed dry. The pipe cleaned easily - about 3 passes with a wire brush. Stove top temp was between 350 and 450 except during start up and cool off. Any thoughts on what was going on.

Air leak at the conversion connector ? Mine (DuraTech) sucks too.
