Curran Pellets

Tried some of these,

They appear to burn good, not a super hot hot burn, ash and fines are not bad either.
Reminds me of a good, good batch of Penningtons.

I would burn em.

Tried four bags to sample. I just bought 1.5 tons at 5.35 a bag Canadian. Prices up here are getting seriously ridiculous.

consider yourself lucky, seen $5.49/bag a month ago on LG Granules, then as i expected price shot to $7.99/bag freakin price gaugers should be put thru the pellet mill themselves.Dirty Buggers,and theres no shortages as of yet at any stores,all have full supplies,so whats there excuse this time..

Keep us posted with the Curran Pellets. They have been in our shop asking us to buy them. Right now we are selling PA Pellets which give great heat and low ash. The only complaint is they go thru batches which have pellets that are more than 2 inches long mixed in. I tried one bag of Curran pellets in our Europa. The ash was darker, the heat was fine, but it did make the glass dirtier than the PA Pellets. If I did buy the Currans I would be able to sell them for $275 a ton instead of $289 a ton for the PA pellets. From what I understand, Curran harvests their own wood for raw materials, which should keep the cost down.

They have a large supply due to the fact that they used to supply the pulp mill at the border in Cornwall. As I understand they have all new equipment and are capabale to double capacity with little modification. Our average pellet price is 6.99 a bag from major supply stores for LG, Main ect... Our local dealer is selling them for cheaper at mid range due to the fact that there is such a swing in prices up here. I'm actually buying from the Ontario-Quebec border and the prices are cheaper than buying here local. Go figure...

Burned a few bags now, They burn hot but appear to have more ash, I am currently tweaking air flow and fuel feed.

I do like the heat output but the ash hmmm we will see.

Last year I was lucky and had 3 tons of good penningtons which produced a light grey fine ash, so far the Currans produce a slightly thicker ash and very dark but no Clinkers reported either.

Burn pot and auger tube do not get built up with hard black crud like the penningtons did.

keep you all posted and with this cold spell there must be others burning Curran pellets now.

Just had 1 1/2 tons delivered. One bag in and I agree with the heat output. Nice bright flame with these guy's wich is nice. Coarse dark ash is what I am getting as well. Would I be right in thinking that less fine ash would be getting sucked up the exhaust? So far I am quite pleased.

Got a 19 hour burn out of the last bag, and that was on setting 2-3 over night and 1-2 for the day.
I agree that the courser ash should keep less ash outof the pipes.
I do like these pellets,

I'm just finishing a 5 bag burn. Heat is average. Ash a bit high. Not too bad a pellet. Seen better.

Burned about half a ton now, no problem and as above stated they have good heat output, minimal fines, consistent length but a coarser/ heavier ash. Anyone near Massena should look into truckloads as their website has them at $215.00/ ton plus delivery.
Overall compared to what I have used they are well worth that plus delivery.
