I purchased a new woodstove (a woodstock progress hybrid) which has a different hole location than our last one. In fact, I am installing an elbow out of the top of the new woodstock which puts the thimble location 42" higher than the other one.
Here's my question: what is the best way to raise and cut the chimney liner to accommodate the new hole location? I can access the top of the chimney and raise it from the top, but I need some way to support it so that I can have my hands free to cut it. I obviously don't want to cut it and have the liner fall to the bottom of the chimney. I also don't want to fall off of the roof...
Any ideas?
